Alternative Ashiatsu Portable Bar Systems

I like having options.

I like giving other people options.

One thing I stress in my ashiatsu course, is that what works for me, may not work best for you.  The barefoot strokes can be adapted use with floor mats, stools, staffs, overhead bars, hip level bars, etc…

I have heard people over the years express some concern about having their hands up above their head all day if they practice ashiatsu.  While I have to say, with proper body mechanics, this is rarely an issue.

But again, today is about options.

A couple of weeks ago, I saw these non-overhead bars*** Ashi-Fusion bars posted on Facebook.

***Update – I know this link does not work and I have contacted the owner of the site asking if they are still available. I have not received a response. If you find any portable bar systems, please share below. Thanks!

  1. In what situations would you use Ashi-Fusion bars? Are overhead bars your preference?
Thanks for all of your posts!

    • Overhead bars are obviously the most cost effective bars and would not get in the way of other massage sessions (need to be set up and taken down). I believe ashi-fusion bars would be best for those who are concerned, or would have difficulty, with reaching over their heads to access the bars(I have talked to those who had shoulder/neck surgery and did not want to reach up a lot). Also those who would not be able to drill into their walls/ceilings could use ashi-thai bars. If these situations do not apply, then I would say overhead bars are generally preferred.

  2. Hello, the Ashi- fusion links are not working. I am looking for am alternative to the overhead bars while still working in a table. I use walkers for floor work which are great but not all my clients like being on the floor.

    Thank you!

    • Hi Arlene!
I noticed that last week that it was broken. The site actually no longer exists. I think I may know who used to own it. I am going to send them a FB message tonight and see if I can find out if they are still available. I will report back here!

  3. Hi Ivy – I offer portable Ashiatsu bar sets for sale on my web page! Loved reading all your articles and blog. I can ship these sets to anyone in the continental United States.

    • Hi Tiffany! Someone sent me a link to your bars in April. It is posted in the comments to the of the portable ashiatsu bar options post. I think it is great and I will be in touch in the future about them. Thank you so much for stopping by and letting me know about them!
